Mystery author Giacomo Giammatteo and his dog Slick

Giacomo & Slick

Welcome, my name is Giacomo Giammatteo

I know I’m supposed to have a professional head shot and be standing against a tree or in front of a fireplace with my arm resting on the mantel, but…that’s not me. So here I am, with one of my favorite dogs of all time—Slick.

I’ve done a lot of things in my life, but for most of my adult life I’ve been a headhunter for the biotech and medical device industries. Then a few years ago I started writing. By the end of 2014, I had 10 books published. The goal for 2015 includes a couple of mystery books, a book on self-publishing, another career book. The one I’m most excited about though, is my first book dealing with our animals—Whiskers & Bear: True Tales From An Animal Sanctuary, will be released in March.

I love writing, but one of the things you learn quickly in this business is that writing is only a small part of publishing. If you hope to be successful, you need to approach writing as part of the publishing business. And publishing is a tough business. During the past few years, I have learned everything I could about the “author side” of publishing. It’s complicated, and the industry is changing daily. A lot of authors jump into this and make bad choices, wasting not only their money, but becoming frustrated and defeated in the process. That’s why I started this website—to try and help other authors and make sure they don’t make the same mistakes I did.

My goal is to keep people up to date on certain aspects of publishing, starting with distribution of both ebooks and print. That alone is nearly a full-time job, so it might be all there is for a while. In the meantime, if you have questions, or information that you feel might help others, send it to me at the email address below.

And if you want to check out my books, the mystery site is here: giacomog.com.

And the non-fiction, career website is here: no mistakes.org.

Getting back to the bio—when I’m not headhunting, or writing, I help my wife take care of our animal sanctuary. At last count we had 45 animals—11 dogs, 1 horse, 6 cats, and 26 pigs. I’m working on getting that website set up also. You can check at tuskanyfalls.com to see if it’s live yet.

Oh, and about that animal sanctuary, we also have one crazy—and very large—wild boar named Dennis who takes walks with me every day and happens to also be my best buddy.

Now that you’ve stumbled onto this site, you might as well explore it; so look around, click some links, and, if you’ve got time, tell me what you think. Send me an email
